The biggest advantage of using cold forming is that the products tend to have a tight tolerance and tight section properties as well. In turn, this permits for less machining the Cold Drawn Welded Tube with an improved straightness. Hence, the product has a better formability. But the most significant and noticeable improvement on the CEW Oil Draw Tubes is in the finish of its surface.
There is an improvement in the mechanical properties of the Cold Drawn Welded Tube (CDW Tube) as well. This process also produces products that have a higher yield & tensile strength properties. A higher mechanical strength is a major benefit of cold-formed steel, which makes the IS 3074 CEW 1/2/3 Steel Tubes for Automotive Purpose well suited for use. Standard IS 3074 was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards. It covers the requirements for both cew and erw tubes for applications involving automotive including scooters and motorcycles. The standard takes Cold Drawn ERW Tube (CEW Tube) into consideration with the outside diameter size ranging up to and including 114.3 mm. Not to forget the cost-effectiveness of using these tubes, which in turn is ultimately the culmination of the above factors. Thereby, making the cost factor one of the major advantages of using them. Cold drawing the IS 3074 CDW Steel Tubes results in less machining and less scrap along with better surfaces, thereby effectively saving both more time as well as more money.
