EN 10083-2 specifies the technical delivery conditions for both semi-finished as well as for hot formed products which have been produced from the direct hardening non-alloy steels. Grades like the C22E Steel Pipe are meant to undergo processes such as quenching and tempering.

These non-alloy flame and induction hardening steels are to be delivered in any of the heat treatment stipulations provided for the various kinds of surface conditions for the relevant product for e.g. EN 10083-2 C45E Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe. Although steels covered in this standard were originally intended for the production of quenched and tempered, flame or induction hardened EN 10083-2 Steel Pipe,  they could also be made available in a normalized condition. Medium Carbon C40 Steel Pipe is comparable to low carbon steel pipes, with the exception that the content of carbon ranges between 0.30 to 0.60%. Another exception is the content of manganese, which is present between a range of 0.50 to 1.65%. An increase in the carbon content to about 0.5% with an accompanying accretion of manganese allows the EN 10083-2 Grade C40 Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe to be employed in the quenched & tempered conditions. This grade is especially an important grade of carbon steel due to its unprecedented success of properties such as strength & toughness after the performance of a heat treat treatment. High-quality Quenched and Tempered, low Carbon Structural steel, the DIN 17200 C45 Steel Pipe is generally delivered in an annealed condition, where its hardness properties are valued to less than 250HB. One of the most extensively used steels for machinery parts, the C35 Steel Pipe is a medium Carbon steel grade. With properties such as excellent forgeability, special variations of this grade could be forged for cold drawing.
