16MnCr5 EN 10084 Steel Pipe supplier


European standard EN 10084 provides the technical delivery conditions for materials, like steel grades which are proposed for the fabrication of case-hardened products. The manufacture of case hardening non-alloyed or alloyed steels are covered under EN 10084 specification. This specification includes grades C10E, C15E, C16E, in addition to both 16MnCr5 and 20MnCr5. These steel products are usually supplied after the performance of a certain type of heat treatment.

Carbon steels that fall under European standards comply with the provisions of the chemistry outlined. However, these steel grades are supplied in other shapes for e.g. EN 10084 Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe or in varying treatment conditions as compared to the specified ones or they could be intended for use in special applications. A plain carbon steel, the DIN EN 10084 C15E Steel Pipes have a nominal carbon content of about 0.15%. Although this plain steel grade has a relatively low strength, their processing by quenching and tempering is known to increase its strength. Another plain, low strength carbon steel EN 10084 C10E Pipes are produced with a nominal carbon content of 0.10%. The relatively low strength of this steel could be increased by quenching and tempering. With a carbon content ranging between, 0.12 - 0.18 % the BS EN 10084 C16E Hot-rolled Pipe contains trace contents of manganese, making these steels relatively easy to form and shape. With properties such as good wear resistance case hardening products like 16MnCr5 EN 10084 Seamless Pipe could have a core tensile strength that varies between 800 – 1100 N/mm². Referred to an ultra-clean carbon steel, 20MnCr5  is a case hardened grade which has good hardenability in addition to good wear resistance due to high surface hardness after hardening. The strict control of the chemistry of this low carbon steel 20MnCr5 UNI EN 10084 cold-rolled Pipe improves its fatigue resistance as well.
