The technical delivery conditions specified by EN 10297 apply to non-alloy as well as alloy steels seamless circular tubes. The tubes produced under standard EN 10297-1 are intended for use in both mechanical and general engineering applications. Like most English standards, the steels used in standard EN 10297 are designated on the basis of product application, or delivery condition. The designations of the steel grade for an EN 10297 Tube also makes a mention of its minimum yield strength. In the case of pipes belonging to grade en 10297-1 e355+ar, the letter E is a designation for steels applied in the manufacture of machine parts. And the term AR indicates that there is not heat treatment required for that particular steel grade. For instance, the minimum yield strength of bs en 10297-1 grade e355 is 355 N/mm2.
This standard calls for use of deoxidized or killed steel grades for the manufacture of E355 Steel Tubes. The outside diameter includes tolerance of the Out of roundness, whereas the eccentricity is included in the en 10297-1 tolerance on thickness. The delivery of these tubes is to be in square cut ended, and the ends are required to be free from excessive burrs. A visual inspection, when performed on the en 10297-1 e470, must be free of both external as well as internal surface defects. The standard permits removal of surface imperfections, via processes such as grinding or machining performed on the en 10297-1 e355 afforded that, after doing so - the tube thickness in the dressed area is not scarcer in comparison to the minimum wall thickness that has been specified.
